Question What color wire for the temp gauge?

Hi, I almost have the T2 ready to roll. But, there are a few connections/wires that need connected.

What color is the wire that leads to the water temp gauge? I can't find any loose wires in the vicinity of the water temp sensor.

There is also a blue two pronged connector in the area of the power steering pump that originates from the motor harness. The wires are blue/white tracer and black/white tracer. I'll try to get a pic for that one.

thanks guys, you are great

The sensor in the engine has a Yellow/White wire connected to it which connects to a Yellow/Black wire which then connects to a Yellow/White wire that is connected to the dash gauge.

I finally snapped the pic of the connectors. The wire directly under "A" belongs with the "B" connector. The wire doesn't actually connect to the connector, I think it is a ground wire associated with the "B" connector. Thanks

Is that single pin connector coming from the CAS harness?

No, it doesn't come from the CAS. I looks like it in the pic but both connectors come from the same bundle of wires that connect to the CAS but not from the CAS connector.

I'll get a better picture but I have to go to class now........ thanks

This pic shows where the wires come from better.

WTF? I think you should enlighten us on what you're dealing with. You say you're almost done with the TII.... does that mean you dropped in a TII engine? What year car? If so, what harness are you using?

See, I don't have any blue connectors like that AFAIK. According to my diagram, a blue/wht and blk/wht is for the egr control solenoid, at least for an 86, & that's not the shape of an EGR solenoid connector. And it seems as if the single connector yellow/black wire is supposed to be a check connector, but I think it was supposed to go into a 4pin connector.

Once again, not quite sure what you're dealing with here, so my help is limited to what you know

OK, the 7 was a 1990 NA. The original owner swapped in a 1990 T2 motor and harness but then proceeded to blow the rear rotor. So, we swapped in another 1990 T2 motor along with its harness.
The harness that the PO used was not exactly the same as the harness that we used. I noticed that the ECU connectors were in different places but it did hookup. Also, the coolant temp sender that is on this T2 is the one that that is supposed to be on the 86 T2. The Air temp intake sensor is not the correct one for this year T2 also.
I can't find the wires for the coolant temp sender, the oil level sensor or the power steering.

any help will be appreciated, ashley

I don't know if JDM harnesses use the same color wires as US harnesses, so that may be your situation. Your best bet would be to remove the UIM and swap back to your old harness. At least you know that the old harness worked with the last engine.

I found that it was easier to just use the NA harness and extend wires as necessary. But in your current situation, you should probably get the old harness and label all the connectors before installing it. It's pretty simple. Just grab the FSM and find in the emissions section the ECU pinout. It should give you colors of wires and their position in the ecu connector. Find the connector at the other end with the correct color wires, and use some masking tape to label them.

I have a copy of the 88 FSM, but the S5 is somewhere on the net. An easy search could find it.

Edit:

Nevermind, here's a copy for you-
