AFM (S4) door could be opened too much, throttle cable too tight and the same goes for the cruise control cable if equipped. CAS could be set incorrectly. Throttle adjustment screw leaving the primary throttle plate open too much. BAC stuck open. Fast Idle Cam in need of adjustment. TPS needs to be adjusted. Vacuum leaks.

considering the throttle body has been painted i assume some **** also modded the throttle body and set all the adjustments incorrectly.

have fun with the project. i would walk away and look for something clean unless you're just looking for a drift missile, in which case offer him $600 and who cares about the idle, then proceed to run it into a wall sideways.

Apparently the engine has been rebuilt too. Yeah. I'm wanting a daily drifter. That's why I'm considering it.

rebuilt means nothing to me, except that i'm surprised it actually runs.

unless the engine was built by a shop and has paperwork it could have been done by anyone, with any amount of experience, using any condition of parts(strangely i see alot of people asking about reusing their old apex seals because FC owners are cheap. this means the engine will eventually spit a seal prematurely). would you do a brake job by cleaning your rotors and reusing your old 20% life brake pads?

Touché. I'm going to go there and do a compression test. That's going to determine if I'm going to buy it.

i would try to get some specifics on the engine, such as how many miles did it have when rebuilt and who did the rebuild and with what parts/receipts for those parts.

of course he could just give you the finger and tell you to pound sand. obviously sometimes you have to roll the dice with any used car.

Yeah. I asked and she said it was rebuild when she got it. When I'm there I'm going to see if it remanufactured but one thing I noticed is that it should be s5 right but it looks like the engine dash and gauges are all s4?

looks like a series 4 GXL with a mish mash of series 5 parts tossed on it. if it is it should have a clutch type n/a LSD which could be a bonus, if it is a GXL. the engine looks like a series 4 but could just have the s4 peripherals on it, but why anyone would go through the trouble to downgrade those parts i don't know.

the engine doesn't appear to be a mazda reman, due to the blue badge missing from the front cover but it could have been removed.

Yeah, I have another friend of mine saying it might be a s5 with s4 parts. like the dash, ecu etc.. I'm waiting to receive the VIN to actually find out what year it is.

the trim looked like series 4 on the outside of the car but it was very difficult to tell in that craptastic video/rattle can paint job.

its an 87-88 GXL, as its got ABS. (its actually possible its a turbo, but unlikely) ABS is only available on the GXL and turbo, in 87-88, and turbo only 89+

the AAS suspension is missing, it was originally grey with red interior.

going much further is speculation, as that car is just a random slapped together bunch of stuff.

that's what i figured but i forgot to think about the ABS factor.

most of the time when i see it the first thing that comes to mind is why it's still there. i'm sure it leaks like a garden hose.

i mean, every ABS module i have come across has been leaking by now and most people aren't willing to fork out $1800 for a reman.

+1 it looks like someone took a so/so car and made it a pile of crap... it runs like *** (although i'm sure the throttle body is all out of whack), looks like ***, especially inside...

well, i was trying to be humorous since i knew that was what you were looking for.

if it were me, i would turn it into a race car and simply not give a damn what kind of shape it turned into as long as it lasted a year on the track. i would probably also paint it pink with a bow on top just to spite it.

Lol. Well now I'm probably not going to get it since my dad doesn't understand what a project means.
