Should I remove my AC?

Since I have my engine pulled out, I'm trying to find things to delete. I've already commited myself to removing the power steering... so I pose this question to you "Should I remove my Air Conditioner?"

I haven't had the AC hooked up for 2 years.. now granted, I haven't driven my car much in the last year. When we opened up the system last week, there was no Freon in the system... I have a leak somewhere... who knows how long the Freon has been gone. If it has been gone for too long, the compressor is probably no good any more. Do I want to take the time to reinstall this AC and have it not work?

The AC probably weighs more than 50 pounds, so it would be weight saving too...

yank her out...it will give you SOOO much room in your driver side engine bay with the AC and PS out. That alone is worth removing them for. Plus your saving weight.

Yank it. You'll have more room for your IC piping.

I yanked mine out and never looked back. But summertime in Seattle is much, much milder than Normal. I'd leave it in living where you live. When I lived down in Springfield the car I had then didn't have A/C (it was broken) and I hated life during summer. Since you're used to not having it, plus it might be toasted, yank it. If it were still working I'd keep it.
Don't expect it to weight 50#, unless you include the A/C-P/S bracket. I was expecting it to weigh more than it did, but I wasn't disappointed. The main reason why I yanked mine out was to have easier access under the hood.
