What causes blow-off to stay open for 6 sec?

On my S4.5 (S5 engine), my blow off stays open for 4-6 seconds after releasing the throttle. Is this just bad valve placement, or is it a vac fail that causes this?

On all my other cars, the valve is open for a maximum of 1.5 sec and shuts clean, this car is going PSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSShsssssssss(cant make smaller S'es, but continue like they are here). The valve is greased and moves easily.

I could try with another valve, but gief cash first :P But it sounds like a retard is trying to play with 1/18 cars or something. Not good.

China stuff. It closes when I push the throttle again, but when I don't, like accelerating then going to idle/hold that speed, it stays open.

Like when your cruising and mantaining a certain speed? My dsm bov will hold it self open under slight throttle adjustments like your desribing, but a video may be more helpful. Also it could be the bov, havent heard anything good about ebay stuff.

When I go full throttle and get max pressure, and the go off the throttle, the valve is open for 4-6 seconds, like it is venting really slow, but it is pretty good flow through it, at least for stock 0.6 bar.

post a pic of it. Is it the type of BOV that is designed to be closed at idle?

Yes it is. However, it is a single piston one, may this cause the problem?

It needs a stronger spring, but that may cause compressor surge. Either get a proper valve that you can recirculate or go stand-alone so that it doesn't run poorly because of the atmospheric valve.

I would get rid of the China crap - I tried one and it lasted for a month - I now have a Turbo Techniques - Its a strong piece. The stock valve is designed to stay open at idle - As K-Tune said - The spring is just not strong enough.

Good news:

I have an extra Turbo Techniques BOV - $190

Bad News:

You have to have someone make you a flange for it - Mine was - $100 - I am sure he can make me another -

You know, the stock air bypass valve works just fine. If you want sound you can even vent it to atmosphere if you install a hardware store check-valve afterwards (although you will lose cool points b/c it's not aftermarket).

I bought it because my stock valve was opening too early so it was leaking under high load, which gave me lots of less Hp than I am supposed to have
