What is broken?

Alright what is the thing that has a tube coming from it going to the back left side of the i/c? It is also on the left side of the i/c. Has some other small tubes going other places. I really need a pic to describe it. The nipple is broken off in the tube so I need to know what part to order. Thanks.

Looks like vacuum hoses. It is just to the left of the i/c. Hmm, does anyone have a pic of the engine bay?

There is the air supply valve on the backside of the intake that has one black hose going from it to the rear of the intercooler. That connection is on the right/rear of the intercooler. Then on the right side there is a slightly larger black hose that goes to the intercooler from the air bypass solenoid. The only other hose are the large inlet and outlet hose on the intercooler.

The air supply valve on a series four supplies extra air during movement of the power steering. See the free download of the factory service manual at http://www.fc3s.org That valve has an electrical connetor on it.

Still doing wild *** guessing here. On the left side of the throttle body there is a water thermo valve that should have a hose going from it to the bottom nipple of the four nipples that sit one above the other on the throttle body. That water thermo valve should have one other nipple going to the front left side of the throttle body to a diaphram there.

Alright, in that pic:

The tube is the farthest back, towards the windshield. It goes to something that is attached to the top of the intake manifold.

Alright, see the hose going in the left side of the i/c? Well look at the hose clamp holding that hose on. Now go straight up, and theres some gray thing that has 2 tubes going into it.

I see on the right hand side of the engine the intercooler inlet hose. I see the clamp on the hose. Just above the hose in the picture I see the grey object, sometimes called the aws on 89 and up cars but is really the AIR BYPASS SOLENOID. Should have an electrical plug on it. On a 87/88 car it is used for the 15second warm up period on a cold engine. It with the bac give you a fast idle of 3000 rpm for 17 seconds. If this AIR BYPASS SOLENOID is disabled, the cold start will only be approx 2300 on start up of a cold engine.

I see no hose going into the left side of the intercooler.

The bottom line is that if you were to plug the hose or tube on the intercooler, and disconnect the plug on the air bypass solenoid, you will never ever miss it. And neither will the engine.

Since there is a hose going in and a hose coming out can I just replace it with a longer hose? Does anyone know what it is anyways? Thanks.

What part of AIR BYPASS SOLENOID VALVE do you not understand? And its on the right side of the engine, not the left. No you can't put a longer hose in its place. The valve is a on/off solenoid for only 17 seconds during cold startup. You don't want a continuous flow of air all the time the engine is running. Cap the intercooler. Pull the plug off the valve. Buy another at the wreck yard. The n/a one is similar if not the same. Don't give more than ten bucks.

Sorry man, lol. You said I didn't need it so I thought I could bypass it. Oh and I am talking about on the left side while looking at the car from the front.
