What belt for FD alt?

What belt size are you guys running for an FD alt?
Are you running stock size belt?
Are you running a +1 size as the FD alt is bigger?
If your using a +1, then what belt is it - ie part number?
Thanks,
-a

Stock size belt.

Dual belt pulley (hiGGi or the like) use 2 stock sized alt belts.

with the higgi dual alternator pulley you have to run two stock sized belts. Yes it's tight. If you go +1 size you have to tilt the alternator slightly up in order to tension the belts correctly. Doing so causes the belts to be eaten quickly as the alternator shifts around. With the FD alt, it is best to have it seat against teh water pump housing bottomed out so that the alt doesn't shift around. The front belt will actually fall out if you do a couple of WOT runs and snap the accelerator back.

2nd thing to note is higgi's dual alternator pullies don't work on real FD alternators. I tried. It doesn't fit.

Cheers -
1) Are you sure you had the correct Higgi pulley? He made two sets, one for a regular FC alt, and one with "proper" FD alt spacing and shaft diameter. I have the Higgi FD double pulley on my FD alt right now. If you are right that there is something wrong with the FD Higgi double pulley - then maybe that is the source of my problems!!!

2) So, you say stock size belt on FD alt on FC. Bottom out the alt, and try to squeeze the belts on there. Right?

What do you mean "the alt shifts around"? The alt is bolted down at the base with a huge 14mm bolt. Plus I have an S5 so there is no little spacer. Are you saying that the alt is not secure like that if its up in the air (toward the end of the tensioning braket)?
Thanks,
-a

well, then it works with 'unreal' FD alternator only, which happens to be more common between FC owners anyways, i have it too
