What battery to get??
I was wondering what type of battery i should get for my 7. I was looking into an optima but not sure whether to get a yellow or red top.
I do have a 3000 watt single twelve in the trunk on a 1100 watt amp with a capacitor and i also have a 500 watt amp for all my interior speakers. Plus i have gauges, an in-dash dvd player, and driving lights. I really dont want to spend more than $200.
The reason i need a new battery is the one i have now is an old *** AC Delco and it only has like 500 cold cranking amps and dies in like 2 seconds. My volt gauge doesnt bounce from all the stuff i have right now but i also want that added protection in case i blow my alternator away from home

I've used Optima redtops in my last two cars.
The one in my 240Z was still going strong after 6 years.
Put one in my 7 two years ago and haven't had any problems.
I've read random comments about a decline in quality (I think Aaron Cake has reservations about Optima) but I've been happy with mine.

I think that i might just get a red top then. Seing how the the difference in reserve power is only 8 minutes and the yellow top has less cranking apms. Not to mention that even with all the stuff i have in my car the volt gauge doesnt bounce at all with my S5 alternator and every thing is nice and bright too.

I have one on the Miata and one on the FC. Ever since the FC went "under the knife", the car gets started once a week, and after a while, the battery will loose charge. The optima battery seems to create a "memory" much faster than regular batteries.
The one on the miata, which is used everyday is absolutely amazing!
My suggestion is, if you will use the car on a daily basis (or at least 3 days a week) go for it, otherwise, forget about it!
BTW - I purchased mine trough "autozone" for like $149, and they will replace it on the spot if its under warranty.

What you need is an upgraded alternator as well.
My personal choice for a battery is the Deka Intimidator. A few years ago the failure rate of Optimas went through the roof. It seemed that every car I saw with an Optima had a bad battery, including my own.

^^^^^Yup.. But i have them in 2 of my vehicles....s10 blazer = winter beater and the rx7.
The blazers battery died twice since i have had the red top in (over 1.5yrs) I recently(4 months ago in january) went out to start my blazer and it was dead...went to autozone and they exchanged it again.....they thought i was scamming them for their shitty product so i now have to pay a sliding scale for optima exchanges.
I started my blazer 2 weeks ago after sitting a while (its part tank so its ok) and it fired right off.
I was actually impressed.
My rx7 has had a slight voltage leak (or the battery was **** since it was given to me) ..the ***** left me stranded at school, so i immediately went to autozone and bought a red top.
It has been fine ever sense.
I am a fan of redtops and their exchange policy, and think their quality is back on track again.
