I've beat my own Subie with my 87 NA (off the line, the Subie cant launch... its an auto). My friend was driving it.

She's the 2.5RS (non turbo) version, so she'd probably whoop the Rex during first gear if she was a stick.

subaru and awd cars are really hard to launch. you usually have to thrash it to just get a proper launch.

it's easy... try to smoke off your tires, and fail... you just launched an AWD vehicle

was it a wrx and a wrx sti, no way it could beat an sti off the line with only 3". But to stay on topic my friend has a raliart impreza, non turbo, I jumped him right off the line and through the quarter. I have 2" dp, 2.5" straight to a 2" split dual running 6psi in a 3200lb convertible.

When I had my 265 tires on the back it wasn't hard to rape off the line. I beat a few talons and a 3000gt vr4

I don't know who was launching the wrx's you people are talking about, but wrx's are insane on launches... whoever was doing it wasn't doing it right I guess.

Also, dennis, mind me asking what the point is of those pics? Just curious...

Try the same thing in the rain or any other adverse conditions and the subbies and evos will dominate for obvious reasons. Thats what awd is really for anyway.

He has hit it on the head.... In dry conditions the power to wieght ratio will win 95% of the time, and the rexes have the AWD boys beat.

Lancer Evo VIII when autocrossing, he'd probably take me at the drag strip though.

Unless it's a shitty driver, it'd be damned hard to beat a WRX off the line in a 2nd gen, I can't even come close with a set of nitto's in my 400hp sport, an STi isn't even worth their time trying. It's funny though, my WRX wagon will stomp just about any TII I come accross with exhaust/intake (haven't found all too many people around here with a clue). Not too bad for a grocery getter!

I pissed off my dad by whooping on his AWD explorer XLT with the 5.0 V8. The truck is actually pretty fast. Has intake and full exhaust and has beat newer GT's (late 90's to 2003) on more than one occasion up to about 70 then i usually let off so i dont look like an *** while i'm passed.

I agree with dDub, if launched correctly, awd cars are very hard to beat off a line. They just have more grip.
