what apex seals are these
hey guys long time no talk. these seals came out of a 1987 block that was clamed to be JDM. it was leaking so much water when i pulled the motor the block was full to the exsaust port. has anyone ever seen these apex seals before. this is my 5th teardown and i have never sean anything like this! i cant even find them on atkins

no these are not broken all 6 are the same and yes the housings are sqrewed!

see now the corners where ok it was the acualy faces of the housings that where messed up because that corner peace acualy completes the apex seal. the first piece does not go right accross it needs the smaller ones to make it all the way accross the slot of the rotor. therefore your left with a very uneven wear pattern and very bad ridges ill have to make another thread. the whole motor was a disaster inside. deffinatly home built!

yes there was only one spring. if you notice on all the 2nd gen seals i have seen there is 2 slots for one small spring and one big spring. these are only slotted for one large spring as u see in the pic. its funny it says it will save your housing i will have to take a pic. its worse then a motor with a blown apex seal and this one still have 45 psi of compression on all faces

No. Pretty much all of the seals sold are multi piece. There used to be 3 piece from Mazda. The only odd thing on here is he seems to be missing the short springs. The seals also aren't stepped. Normally when installing the short spring, that step will let you feel when it is in all of the way.
