What is the alternator rated in the fc?
What is the alternator rated in the fc?
Im looking at buying one and i'd like to put my stereo in it so I want to know if the alteranator can power a 1000w amp.
Also is the reliability like the fd's (constant problems) or is it better/worse?

what replacement would you recommend? Or a supplemental battery? I dunno
Also I saw a FC w/ 4 seats. How is that possible? I haven't gone to check one out in person yet but i remember seeing a friend of a friends fc. It just had the back carpeted up high, no room for seats.

I would buy a FD alternator but in order to use it you would have to get a new pully installed on it in order to work for a FC. A dual pulley or something like that. You will have to search more on that because im not sure.
And the rear seats replace the rear bins that are usually in it rear.

yes 2nd gen alt. is rated at something like 60amps and a third gen one is tested at 130+amps so try to find someone who sells the coversion, i did. it will come with the pulley and a new plug that you will have to rewire (not hard just 2 wires)
and the 4 seater rx7 is a two seater that has two more seats instead of your rear storage bins

If you really intend to power a 1000W amp (is that a real 1000W, or just a China 1000W?) then you'll need something a bit bigger then the 100A FD unit.
Ideally you'll want a 250A aftermarket alternator. Your 1000W amp will draw about 150A at full tilt. You'll need power for the rest of the car as well, hence the 100A rating above amp draw.
Probably a large stiffening capacitor as well, and you'll likely need to bump the idle up to avoid stalling the car at intersections.
Perhaps a better question is; what the hell do you need a 1000W amp for?

thats what i ran was a fd alt 1200 watt amp powering 2 12 in type s subs.. it did ok but needed to charge battery like every 7 days because of the draw.. i didnt run a capacitor but the lights dint do the whole dimming thing when subs were powered. whats funny is i eliminated all extra unnesesary weight no ac/air pump/ac rad all hardlines/condesor/misc interior then i added 350lbs to the rear with the giant custom box taking place of storage bins..im an idiot and the subs will be coming out pretty soon.

You guys are serious that a fd alternator still isn't gonna run this thing??
It's going to drain fuel like 7 a/c's running added to the already estimated 15MPGEDIT:
...wiat that dosn't mean i'll be using a 1000w 24/7 right? Just that the amp has the capability of going up to 1000w? I got friends that put these things into impala's, cheerokies, civics, and they're fine. I doubt those stock alternators are 100amp +.
Kinda a useless post...
Why is the S5 alt decent if the S4 alt sucks... is there only 10 amps the difference between decent and sucks???
S4 alt is 70 amps peak
S5 alt is 80 amps peak
S6 alt is 100 amps peak
S7 alt is 120 amps peak

I dunno why i need it i just got it. I got 2 kickers and a 1000w amp for $300.

What size are the fuses on the amp? Ohms law will tell us what the real wattage of that amp is.
Figure your peak draw based off of those fuses.
The FC needs 35 amps to run the engine and most engine based accessories, and 15 amps to run the lights at night. So if you have an amp with a couple of 30 watt fuses on it, then figure a 50 amp additional load.
... based on that, then you would need 100 amps to run the car and stereo, just getting by... now since the FD S6 alt only makes 100 amps at peak (around 5000-6000 RPM) you wouldn't have enough juice.
