what all can i remove and still be legal?

im gonna build my project 87 TII but id like it to be as light as possible but stil be legal incase i decide to sell it..so far im going to remove the powersteering, air conditioning, airpump, cruise control, fanshroud, cold start fluid tank right under cruise control box and cable....what else can i remove? i noticed alot of the people in the show your motor thread dont have fans on thier cars would it be ok to remove the fan? i know it would make lots of room and make it easier to clean everything..so what all can i remove and still be legal and safe?

You need the airpump if you still have a cat. It would work for awhile (who knows how long) but the point is that the cats will eventually get clogged.

You can remove the stock clutch fan, but you're gonna have to replace it with something. (i.e. an electric fan).

If you want to be completely 100% legal, you can't remove a single emissions piece. But if you live in a state where there are no emissions requirements -- 100% legal may not be an issue.

If you're selling it down the road to a performance enthusiast, they're probably going to remove the emissions anyway. It might help you sell it, rather than not!

Gut out all the emissions, swap to e-fan, p/s, a/c ... etc etc. Just go nuts, remove the interior and everything else you can see that doesnt have a purpose for now

What part of illinois do you live in? I know closer to St. Louis there aren't any emissions tests because it's considered rural. If you live in rural illinois, go ahead and remove all the emissions stuff and gut your cat.

i asked this question in another thread.. (with the wrong topic) so ill re ask it here...

regardless of y pipe or true duals... dual mufflers during a emmisions test should help right? cutting the total exhaust in half.... %50 to right 1 and %50 to left 1.

During the inspection test they put 1 sensor in one pipe.. so it seems that the readings would be half the total.

So could I run a gutted cat and no airpump in a inspection state... (dont worry about the looks of it, my buddy does the inspecting... but he cant lie to the computer about the levels.

I think it should blow clean enouf to pass with duals and no cat/gutted cat...?...

No because the sensor sample parts per million. the ratios remain the same, just least air moving over the sensor.
