What is the part that is circled in red, what is it called, what is it for, and I have seen exhaust ports that don't have those does it do anything good to take this part out, or were those turbo rotor housings.

that is the defuser, it lowers the sound level of the exhaust. Some people will argue that it will provide an increase in HP by removing it, but I have only seen it make the exhaust louder when removed (providing only an audible increase in HP, rather than a physical increase in HP).

more trouble to remove than you would think. Those plates are made of some super alloy steel. Takes forever to cut one out.

unless you have TII intemediated housing's in your N/A it won't matter....N/As have more power with a semi restrictive exhaust..ps i'm seeling a TII inter housing...

the only reason to take them out is so you can port the exhaust.

the material is Inconel. it's the same material used for Jet engine's and the Space shuittle. it has a VERY high metal/breaking point. hense is used on the rotary exhaust port. it's only on the second gen non turbo Rotor housings. the turbo housings do not have them.

I've seen guys work at trying to grind them out for hours.. and only get a small portion out. just get turbo housings and be done. much easier to port than having to grind the difussers out first.

woah wicked

i just got my hands on old housings from an n/a.. i was going to take a pic and see what the word was on those..

thanks you guys!

theres something in the stock exhaust manifold too im curious about.. ill see if i can get a pic and post it..

(if you guys have seen one before, its like a 1/2" diameter tube that goes partway into the 'tub' as alot of people call it - if you dont know what i mean, wait for the pic)

That "tube" is where the O2 sensor goes into the manifold.
