What is this?

There is a small electrical part right next to the slave cylinder on the transmission that is held in place by the same bolt that is holding the slave cylinder to the transmission. It almost looks like a computer chip and has one black wire coming out of it. What is this?

i believe it is the ground for the oil pressure gauge.

It's technically a capacitor - look at it, it has the sign for "microfarads" on it.&nbsp And yes, it's a damping ground for the oil pressure sensor.

If this "capacitor" were to not have good contact/ground against the tranny, in what way would it effect the oil pressure reading? (too high, too low, none at all?)

I am still trying to diagnose my low oil pressure reading when the engine is HOT (after multiple laps on a road course).

Now that I know what that thing is for I will clean up the contacts for it and see if it makes a difference in my gauge reading.

I think it looks like a radio noise suppressor but the manual says its a condensor for the oil pressure sender.

Fluctuations is typical.&nbsp Low readings are possible.

Wreck yard. P.S.....if you install it, you'll never notice the difference, with, or without it. Stongly suggest getting a mechanical gauge for test procedures. Stock sender is not so good. You can take it apart and fiddle with it and make it read anything that pleases you and gives you warm fuzzies. Just don't take the reading seriously.
