Went to the track... dissapointed, but understandable.

Went to the track... dissapointed, but understandable.

Well, went to St. Thomas dragway last night, this was my first time at the strip with this car...
I wanted to go just to get an idea for comparison when I put the turbo on.
I noticed the damn track has a lot more traction than the street! My first run was against an Infinity G20, I bogged totally on the launch, it dropped to aout 2500 rpms!! (Practically in reverse for my car!!) Was 5 cars behind. Still caught up and passed him by a wide margin.
I didn't even get the timeslip, but was told it was a 16.2!! Well, first run ever.
I also raced a mid 90's prelude with Vtec (SHR or something??) It was damn fast, but I still beat it by .733 sec.
Anyways, My times were consistant, but every race (4 in total) my MPH went up by 1, from 88 to 90.
run 2:
rt .706
60ft 2.283
et 15.567
mph 88.75

run3:
rt 1.266
60ft 2.399
et 15.515
mph 89.13

run4: (against a new V6 firebird.. SLOW!)
rt .544 (Yeah BABY!)
60ft 2.299
et 15.657
mph 90.70

The last run was my best trap speed, but lowest ET.. weird, maybe cause the temp was dropping. I don't have the cold air box anymore... and I really felt it.

Why am I not crying? Well, it's my first time actually out on the track, (Run high 13's in G-tech, but that MUST be BS) and I also have not tuned my car since putting in the TII pump and 550cc injectors, it's noticably slower, but that's fine. Everyone seemed to be running a lot slower than they say they normally do, by a good 1/2 sec.
My check engine light kept flickering too. (hmmm)
Anyways, I know I can't launch, I should get my 60ft times down to 2-2.1. That's killing me, my 3rd gear also takes at LEAST 1/2 sec to get into. Not cool.
I plugged the ET into the drag racing calculator, with my 2860 lbs weight and got 151 rwhp!! Obviously it's the driver !

Anyone care to comment on the timeslips?

Welcome to the reality of the n/a Rx-7. I honestly thought you would see higher trap speeds than me. O-well. Its good though to get a base line. CJ

Now i don't feel so bad for running a 15.1@95.

Yeah, I was there as well with my turbo NA...My times were, shal we say, a little off...Clogged cat resulting in 2 PSI of boost at 5K RPM make for some really embarassing runs...Time for that 3" downpipe.

That's weird because my TII ran a 13.95-98 with a 95 to 96 MPH. my 60ft times were usually about 2.0 So i don't see why you're so far behind. I mean with those trap speeds. If you got bigger injectors, and no way to control them, i would be 99% sure you're getting too much fuel. Put it on a wide band and see. My friend gained about 24 HP to the wheels (no joke) by tuning his fuel . He simply had too much. His dyno sheet looked like a roller coaster. he went from 111rwhp to i believe 136. So check that out. Also clean your injectors.
