Need some help..

Well guys, I'm pretty much a noob, so take that into consideration. I just picked up my 10ae just last weekend with full knowlege of it not being in running condition. The guy i got it from had recently replaced the motor which was done for, with one that he was told was in running shape. So, he throws it in there and hooks up all the bare, basic essencials..right now, it has fuel, air and spark, also belt drive accessories all going. He wasn't able to get it to catch and eventually just traded it to me out of frustration mainly, which is understandable. Now, my question is, which, if any, of the vacuum hoses and other components are needed for the motor to run? I've kinda tinkered and it just seems to be turning over without even coming close to catching. Any help would be great and even just some advice would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Wow... You need to get either pictures, or take it to someone thats rotary knowledgeable. Troubleshooting this one over the internet might prove to be a challenge.

Okay, thats at least a start, i thank you for that.

BTW: You're super helpful, i just read your post from like 1980 about the fuel cutoff switch. I did that in my last 10 ae which I had over a year ago and totally forgot how to do it.

Thanks,

I wish there was much more that I could do. BAsically your asking us to fix a motor that was just stuffed in there, by someone that might not know what they are doing.

Here is something to think about...Have you checked fuel? Spark? Timing?

Well, in the three days ive had it, iowa has been has been its usual mid january, tropical self and i haven't been able to hardly even stand it outside. So...no, haven't checked much really I was just hoping i could get a list of essencials needed for the motor to run, that way i could at least have a starting point to see what I need to check first.

Hey, i added you to my msn, get on if you're online still.

I am not home at the moment, but I will be soon.. I will jump on MSM then.

I would start with verifying spark, and timing.
