damn, nice. 3rd crank huh. Its amazing how if you do the job right, you don't have to ask questions like

"Finished rebuild won't start"
"Rebuild complete no spark"
"Fresh rebuild, won't idle"

etc. heh..

Ah, I didn't know the T's had lightbars like that. I've got a '32 A Coupe w/rumble seat.

Is it like the rebuild season or something? Haha, seems like everyone is tearing down and rebuilding all of a sudden.

Anyways, congrats

His story is the same as mine. I think it takes a couple of cranks for the fuel to get in properly. I guess you could crank it one real long time.

Usually your a little aprehensive to just crank on it. I was. I kinda cranked and listened. then again, when it fired off I just sat waiting for something bad to happen and if it did, I could kill it. But nothing bad happened so I let it idle.

Spyder, I got 129 miles on mine as of today. Congrats on a fine rebuild. I was shocked that mine busted off so well and it just kept running. I heard so many things bad. Were you thinking the same?

This is my 3rd engine, and honestly I was not that worried.

However the oil pressure has got me worried..... Im at 60psi at a 1500 Idle.... at 700rpms its down to above 30, and at 5k its a 90psi. Its almost too good.....

That's close to the same numbers I'm getting. I wouldn't worry with those numbers.

Unless you get lucky with your rebuild like I did, and my AFM just happened to die at the same time that I had the engine out... of course, the engine was out of the car for about 5 months while I did all my bodywork and such..

but damn, was that frustrating

Stock OPR? That doesn't seem normal then because I thought the stock rear OPR wouldn't allow it to get that high? I'm gonna guess that your gauge is just inaccurate or something.

Dub, I think I am going to agree that its the guage. I think I will get a aftermarket one asap. It is the stock rear OPR, even am using the stock OMP setup. Why screw with something when it works, right?

I rechecked today and I am not getting anywhere near that high on oil pressure. I am only getting about 70psi @ 5K

Ok. On a cold start at idle, I pull 30psi oil pressure. This is a 900rpm idle.
After the motor warms up and sets at about 1500rpms its at 60psi+. At 3-5k I am hitting 90psi+ and then it will only drop down to about 75 pounds. This guage was accurate when I yanked the motor, only think I did while it was out was clean the sensor with simple green. I really hope this would not damage it.

The other issue-
I have a front cover noise. I can best describe it as a wirring sound, almost like a slacking oil pump chain, or like a unbalanced clutch fan/loose pully. But I checked everything like that and spec'd out the chain before I re used it. I also triple checked the front stack when I assembled it so I dont think its any of that.

Sounds to me like the condenser for the oil pressure guage is broken, it a black plastic square object with a single wire coming out of it, you will find it in the area of the slave cylinder on the bell housing, although on my N/a its mounted to the brake master cylinder..max
Taken from a thread I turned up in searched...... I have no condenser and I am not even sure where it plugs into the wiring harness! I will go see if I have one on my S5 I could borrow to test..... Mabey I just forgot to connect it or reinstall it.

Could that also be why my oil pressure guage is going berserk as well? Lemme know when you find it so I can fix it on my car too

Oh and did you get those brake rotors today? dad said that you got a REALLY FREAKING good deal ^_^

You gotta have that black box thing. There should be a loose lead in your wiring harnes if you don't see it. You may have taken the wire off at the ground point on the slave cylender cover and now its fallen down by the starter. You may have unplugged it at the clear connector and left it on the block somehow and then taken it off later and now its on your workbench and your just not seeing it......or thinking that its critical.

Look at this thread it has a pic of the black box

https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/very-high-oil-pressure-394624/

Seems this box messes everybody up on their rebuild.
