well I was thinking about my plans

as some of you may know, I've been planning on getting a 89-91 TII. ok so I'm thinking things through now, while I'm temporarily not working (schoolwork preventing). I want to go with a stock rx7. pretty much completely stock. I want to choose what I do to the car. I've been watching somewhat around autotrader and all that crap (not much since I already have 2 cars and need to sell them both before I get a new one) and I haven't seen 1 stock 89-91 TII within california. I'm thinking, I really want the styling of the 89-91, but I guess some colors of TII would be ok. (I REALLY DON"T LIKE THE BLACK TRIM!) namely black would be ok. What I'm just wondering is, should I get a 86-88 TII? or wait for a 89-91? 89-91 would be more likely the choise because I decided to get an FC over an FD. FC just seemed more of a 'me' kind of thing. Some of you may call me crazy but I kind of like the FC styling better. Don't get me wrong, the FD is a beautiful car, but I can invision myself more easily driving a nice TII instead of a nice R1. That and I'd be afraid to work on an FD. another thought I had was to go the N/A route with maybe a supercharger or something.

For reference, I am an Autocrosser pretty much. I like straightline speed, but I'd rather have a good autocrosser.

just wondering what everyone out here would do in my shoes.

oh yeah. I'm limited as to mods. seeing that I live in CA. Since I'm insured under my dad and he seems to be a stickler for doing things the 'honest' way, I think swapping performance and stock exhaust for smogging may not be acceptable. maybe.

If you get an 87-88 black TII, then the trim wouldnt be a problem right? I dont see a problem with black trim

Talking

For me and this area at least *Seattle*, 10th anniversaries are HELLA hard to find. I wanted a 10th, but opted for an 88 GXL because the price was just too nice for the condition of the car. *one dent, minor paint scratches, engine in perfect - and i mean PERFECT - running order, $2500*. From what I hear NA's have a better track record in terms of keeping it maintained but TII's are a whole lot faster. Keep in mind of what you want modded *and since you're in California it'll be pretty easy for you to find speed shops* and then go from there. I'm not a big speed freak so NA was the choice for me although this winter I am adding a turbo kit to the car. ^_^ Good luck with whatever path you choose!

Peace,
AJ ^_^

Youre right. The N/A's are very reliable vs. the TII. The guy I bought my TII from, has a 85 GSL-SE. The motor was blown in the car (TII) and he said he drove it a couple times on 1 rotor. He told me that even though its only running on 1 rotor, it would still spank his -SE retarded. That was from his mouth, I never drove until the new engine was in, but you get the idea.

hold out for what you want man...and MAKE SURE its what you want...and that it'll run FINE!

i got my n/a 2.5 years ago...and LITERALLY for the past 2 years i've been looking for a nice 89-91 T2. i found a few in that time...but either the price wasn't right or someone else had bought it. i thought i finally found a jewel in the one i bought. well, it was fine when i test drove it and for about 2 hours of the trip home...but then turned to ****. i'm sure its gotta be something electrical, but it just goes to show that ANYTHING can happen even if you think you're meant for this car.

you're right...89-91 T2's in nice shape or stock are harder to find that an immacualte FD...****, they're 10X's as hard to find! keep looking though...and remember...NOTHING will be as reliable as your n/a...

oh, and i think i remember seeing a 91 T2 for sale on www.autotrader.com in cali...it was rebuilt...looked MINT! i think got 6500 or something. it was red. should appear close to the top once you type in the car. good luck man

I also say hold out for what you really want.

The 89-91s look better, are a tad nicer, and have a little more power too. If you plan on doing serious modifications down the road, it really doesn't matter what you start out with power wise. Someday, I will be in the market for an 89-91 TII as well. I'll make sure I take as long as need be to find the right one.
