I know a guy that did this on his dedicated race car and he hates it. It won't be fun to drive.

it is a dumb idea, get a LSD preferably a clutch type and you will be happy.

it is simple to do but as said it is also dangerous because welding steel and cast iron the welds will not be as solid as they should be and if it breaks it can lock up the differential and can cause total loss of control of the car.

Race cars? How about rock crawlers and offroaders... I know a bunch of people with sweet air locker systems (flip a switch, lock your diff)

not to mention it wont last long at all on the road.. in the dirt its cool (why off roaders do it) because it will turn and lessen the strain on the diff. but on asphalt, i wouldnt do it. it WILL break and it WILL be bad when it does.
