Question Weird Whining....

Ok guys, this is kinda odd....

it's hot out lately and when i start my car i hear a whining comming from somewhere in the rear of my car, when it's just started and not moving....

i think it may be the walbro "whine" but not sure, it's faint but you can notice it.... though when i turn my lights on or press the brakes it fades away almost.... almost....

it sounds like a cat cooped up in a box in hot weather, thats as best as i can explain the whine....

oh, and when i drive it a little bit, mabe to the end of the parking lot it dissapears and it's as if it was never there....

what ya think...?

Probably the fuel pump... Have you checked the voltage to the pump? Chances are the thing's got so poor voltage that when you hit the brakes it slows down so much you don't hear it.

havent checked the voltage on the fuel pump, when it was installed i made sure my mechanic checked all the wires and all....

it's made the whining noise twice so far and never again, and after i drive it, it goes away....

i dont know, when it whines if i turn the lights on and such, it gets quieter, other then that, it's never there....

have you checked your spare tire well for cats?

umm, yeah, sounds like the fuel pump is the only possible thing it could be. mines done that before... but it was a pretty loud wine. and I have a walbro and all my wires have been rewired, so I don't know (but I'm also pretty sure I have water in my tank cause it doesn't really seal.)

ok guys, i've put atleast 1000-1500km's on my car since the fuel pump was installed and now it whines louder...?

i was shutting off my car and it was pretty loud, and once again, gets quieter if i press the brake and such....

i was driving it for quite some time so i will see if it's doing that in a little bit....

Is the tank full of fuel?
Walbro's don't like being exposed (i.e. not covered with fuel) and overheat.

Nah, it's just that it gets noisier with less fuel in the gas tank - go figure!
I had my Walbro for over 2 years, and I drain my tank all the way to "E"!
If possible, I would try and keep the gas level over 1/4 just to keep the Walbro happy.
Good luck!

try turning the key to just before starting the car. the pump should turn on, see if you can hear it then?

after a long mountain run i was idling and my walbro was making wired pulsating noises, then i just drove off and it went away. If your not noticing any performance problems i wouldnt worry about it. (from what ive encountered)
