Weird Question
My friend has an '87 TII for sale. That motor had bad injectors so we were in the process of installing the injectors and he dropped a bolt in the lower intake mainfold which just HAPPENED to fall directly in the motor. The engine was stripped hopeing we could retrieve the bolt, but it won't come out. The engine is going to have to be dismantled.
Question is how much should I pay for this car? It has been involved in accident previoulsy and has had the drivers side rear quarter somewhat repaired, but paint is a different color. Brakes are siezed in the rear, compression is good, but only for about another 25k or so. It's currently reading 7 on the front and 6 on the back on a Mazda rotary compression checker. Interior is totally trashed, needs sunroof replaced and none of the power windows work.
So what do you think I should offer him?

I don't ever post on "worth of a car", as the Canadian market value is always significantly higher than the US...
But try buying one of those flexible magnet wands. With the lower intake manifold out of the way, you should easily be able to fish out the bolt.
Even so, the low compression might be a good idea to budget for a rebuild with.

well it should be able to be fished out without totally disassembing the motor but it may take either removing the lower intake manifold and/or the exhaust manifold and some fishing, if it was a small enough bolt you could try rotating the e-shaft counterclockwise until it drops out the exhaust port but that is a risk as it may get wedged and score the housing, i'm a gambling man though.

LOL. Thats what we already did. I've tried my magnetic wand and cant get **** out either. $500 is what I was thinking.
