Weird problems, S5 vert

well my friend and i have done quite a bit of work to my wifes vert over the past week, all new rear delrin bushings, new delrin tranny bushings, changed tranny, new TO and pilot bearings, also added several grounds to the car and installed a set of indiglo gauges.

now the problems, the tach had always worked when it felt like it before, usually about 80% of the time, but after this work it hasnt worked at all, the fuel gauge has always worked and now it has stopped working.

so the question is, what could be causing the tach and fuel gauge not to be working now?? the fuel gauge worked just fine for about 20-25 minutes after all the work was done, filled it up and it read full, then when i got home from work it just dropped all the way to the E and hasnt worked since.

any help is appreciated.

i hate S5's, ive never had any problems with S4's lol

Since what you did is usually a good place to start looking the only thing I can say is check the guage connectors and wiring in and around the dash cluster. Sorry I wasn't more of a help.

its ok, i think thats where i'll start, its weird, the idiot lights today were flashing on an off while driving, the fuel gauge is working intermittently, it will show how much gas there is then stop working for a while.

i cant understand whats going on, i hate S5's! lol

S5's are cool because they have a nice exterior but S4 is cool cause it's got LSD.

Make sure your alternator is working correctly.
Check your fuses.
Worst case scenario, you will have to backtrack the problem, to find where you have 12V. Like start at the sending unit and backtrack until you find power. Basically, trace the power wires.

check your fuses, also, i noticed you just did the grounds, i would double check for loose bolts or wires, and check the mating surfaces if there is dirt or debris inbetween the mating surfaces you will not get a proper ground and all kinds of wierd **** will happen

also, where did you tap the power for the guages? straight from the battery? or did you tap into some cluster power?

i checked all fuses, their ok, i did the power wire for the indiglo's to the battery positive terminal, and the ground to the firewall.

i checked all the grounds, mating surfaces are ok.

How about the screws on the back of the gauges... if you have been messing around and already had intermittent conections there.... well, the first place I would look would be those screws.

Yeah, put a dab of conductive grease on the end of the screw and at the top where the screw meets the circuit board.
