Weird noise from wheel wells?

In my 88 Turbo II I have noticed a thumping noise coming from the wheel wells when I turn the steering wheel at first I thought I might have bad tie rods but I have never heard a car make this noise. The tires arn't rubbing at least I think they arn't I checked them and they are the stock wheels with stock sized tires. I also hear what might be the power steering belt squeal but I am not sure if that would have anything to do with it.

any Ideas of what it might be would be helpful
Thanks
Marty

Check the wheel bearings. To do so, jack the front of the car up, grab the tires at 6+12 o'clock, and check for play. If there's excessive movement, the wheel bearings are no good/loose. Not completely sure if they are adjustable on these cars, check the FSM/Haynes.
