Weird Issue: Electrical Poopfest
My brother-in-laws car will not start. He accidentally hooked up his starter wrong and fried the solienoid. He has since replaced the starter with a reman from Autozone, yet it still will not even attempt to kick out the starter. He put the ground on the "hot" stud on the starter, then proceeded to hook up the battery which then got the starter HOT to the touch.... Anyways with that replaced the car still will not crank, is there anything else he may have fried? His 80amp fuse is still good, all the relays seem to be hooked up.....
Also his "shift Up" light stays on while the key is in the on position, as do ALL of the idiot lights..... He replaced the clutch switch with a known good one too....
Weird.

All the warning lights and the shift light Should come on when the key is turned to ON.
Once started the lights should go out.
IF your cars warning lights don't come on when the key is put to ON, your car is broken.
About the starter: Jack the car up. PUt it in neutral. Pull the small wire off the starter solenoid. Using a piece of wire bare at each end, jumper b/t the small blade on the solenoid and the large wire on the solenoid. The starter should turn over.
IF it did, then your problem lies in the small wire on back to the ignition key. Put a meter on the small wire and look for batt voltage when the key is put to START. It should be there. IF not, let it be know that that small wire goes from the starter solenoid to a plug under the Trail coil. To a Blue jumper plug. From there it goes to the starter interlock switch on the top of the clutch pedal. From there it goes to the ignition key.
It's possible you've lost the batt feed to the ignition switch. The ignition key is fed batt voltage on a single black wire from about six inches below the Engine fuse box. Go look at the engine fuse box and look for that black wire with a single spade connector about six inches below the Engine fuse box. Make sure it's connected up and has batt voltage coming from the fuse box.
Or look at the connectors for the igniition switch. They're located about a foot below and in front of the switch. The one your looking for is a two socket connector. One pure black and the other black/white. See if the Black one has batt voltage.
