i got my car a little while ago and i tried hooking up a battery and my alarm went off (horns and the light inside) the door ajar light and my interior lights worked, nothing else. so i found out the 80a main fuse was blown, which i thought everything in the car was routed through and could not work if it was blown, well i replaced it and now the battery sparks like a bitch when i try to hook it up and when i hold the wires to the terminals nothing works, nothing i cant figure out what it is

 

Sounds like something is shorted. Did you happen to mistakenly reverse the polarity on your battery?

 

i dont think i did, but if i did wouldnt the 80a fuse be the first to go?

 

Nope, almost never blows if the battery is hooked up backwards unless it is hooked up backwards while the car is running.

 

hmmmm, what would be a good place to start, looking for shorts that is? should i check the grounds and replace them?

Okay, pull all the main fuses (except the main). Is the main blown? Then try to reconnect the battery. MAKE SURE THE POLARITY IS CORRECT!

 

what one is the ground, and do i hook it up first or last, i dont want to do it wrong

 

I usually connect pos first, then Neg.

 

negative is always off first and on last
