Well, start off by adding coolant. If it loses coolant again, you've got a problem, (leak, coolant seals fried, etc.)

This should really be pretty obvious...

You need to check the radiator level, not the overflow bottle.

The sensor probe for the coolant level alarm is at the top center of the top radiator tank.
If it's wet - no alarm.
It it's dry - alarm.

So - your top tank is not full.
That's the simple part, the hard part is why.

The most common cause is a small leak starting somewhere.
The trick is finding & fixing it before it becomes a big leak.

you have air in the cooling system. fill it up, and make sure to bleed it really well.

So you have a leak. If you can't see where it's coming from, go to a radiator shop and have them pressure test the cooling system.

1990 FC3C n/a, just went through similiar situation. Check the lower radiator hose, end away from radiator, and also, look at water pump. Weep hole hard for me to see, but with flashlight, fluid wasn't. Good luck, and hope its just a clamp or hose.

PEACE THE DOG

p.s. For everyone concerned, please dont always say coolant seals with loss of fluid. I've rebuilt my engine three times from this advice, If I had listened.

Hmmm...do you think you have a coolant leak?
There should be NO (colored) fluid puddles under the car.
The only thing that is okay is condensation from the A / C system, and that's just water...

get one of those $.99 key chains with the bright blue LED. that blue light will make coolant show up bright, glowing yellow if you shine it around under your hood at night. usually you can tell where youre leaking from that way.
