Weird car running problem Please Read

ok this is the deal i put a used engine wid 60,000 miles..the engine had been sitting for 18-25 months. so i put it in and it ran but under 2000 rpm it would just die out. so i dont have my licence yet so all i pretty much do is let it idle and drive it up and down my driveway. so then it would die out under 1700 rpms.. and the other day it dies out under 1400 so do you think if i keep running it it will get lower till i hit my 750 idle.. do you think the engine sitting couyld have caused this.. if you have any ideas or questions just ask or just let me know

Thanx in advance

Dustin

So you had to apply throttle to keep it running? Could be a lot of things but I would first check for vac leaks. Try a compression test first though, it's easy and will tell alot.

ok, i have put new gaskets on it and new hoses and have gone over and over it for vac leaks.. and yes it runs great as long as i hold the throttle over about 1500 then under that it just dies... it starts pretty good just turn the key wid some thottle and fires rite up.. and the engine sounds really strong when running(compaired to my obrothers old rx wid 146,000 miles) it has 60,000 miles so i assumed it had good compression but i guess a test will be inorder

There are three vacuum hose on the front of the dynamic chamber. The two small ones can be misplaced. Make sure the bottom one is gong to the left of the engine to feed the vacuum rack. The other should be going to the right for the fuel injector air bleed nipple. That's for a series four. Only the bottom nipple of the three is a vacuum source. It should not be going anywhere but to the left side of the engine to feed that rack of solenoids.
