weight reduction to front of car
Ok i am losing as much possible weight as possible yet the car is still a street car. First of all i have a aftermarket fiberglass bumper so i dont need to worry about bumper supports
there is a bumper reinforcment which i beleive is only usefull for impact under 10km/hr is this true? + - of removing it? How much does it weigh
On the front of the car there is a black metal bar that goes right in front of each headlight. Connect to the car on both sides but looks useless is it?

Follow the model some people here use:
carbon fiber shift ****
carbon fiber cup holder
carbon fiber guage pods
carbon fiber steering wheel
carbon fiber stereo surround
carbon fiber air freshener
carbon fiber fenders
carbon fiber hood
carbon fiber doors
carbon fiber door panels
Remove the ps and a/c in canada I don't see how you need cold air keep the heater.

it was sarcasm
ricers always claim everything they buy that is made from cf as a "performance" mod because its light. Forget that they could have spend their money on a new engine that would be twice as powerfull lol.
edit: there is a valid answer after the cf sarcasm

Yeah, to add to my post about moving the battery, you should check into the gel-cells from a Miata... Pretty small and light, although expensive thru Mazda... When I had my Miata, I got one from a company called Westco, and I think it was like $89...

Been a few years since I had the Miata, and I don't have the dimensions anymore, but it was considerably lighter than a normal battery, and probably about 2/3's the size...
My Miata was a first-gen (95), and the Westco was the same size as stock, so they shouldn't be too hard to track down thru most aftermarket places that deal with mx5"s...
One think I just thought about, however... 7's seem to need a bit more ooomph to get them cranked than a Miata, so there may not be enough crank-amps to spin a rotary.... Don't know, never tried it... May wanna check into it, cuz I don't wanna see someone dump some cash on something that doesn't really work...
Oh yeah, from waht I remember, the battery also needs to be vented, so you may have to drill a hole in the floor... I know the stock battery had a vent-tube, don't remember if the replacement did or not...
Wow, the more I remember, the more screwed-up my idea sounds... Worth checking into , tho...

If your goint to a lightweight battery, might as well go with a Hawker. As for relocating it to the rear, placement is going to depend on what you use the car for. Drag car? as far back and to the passenger side as possible. If you like to track the car put it in the passenger compartment thingy. Weight hanging outside of the wheel base slows down the cars ability to rotate:thumbs:
more weight reduction for the front? fab up some driving lights in the FTP area, maybe two sets one for highs one for lows, then remove everything that has to do with the pop ups. That'll save alot of weight right there, it'll look sweet, and best of all it'll free up alot of weight that hangs outside the wheelbase!

Remove all of the emissions contols, they weigh something, unless of course you have emissions testing in your area. Get lighter wheels and tires. Strip as much of the interior as possible/desirable. Don't just get CF fendres, hood etc, just take them all off! (kidding)
Basically if you don't need it, take it out. If it can be made lighter, do it. If you can get a lighter piece, get it.

manuel rack, no abs, get carb set up. and you could lose the efi things, all ac, air pump, if you buy the new bumper that come with the light then you could lose the pop up light system too. header or down pipe. dash, change the seats to bucket seats. get fiber glass hood if you can't affort cf hood.
