Weee wastegate porting, pictures!

Well slightly ported the wastegate on my S5 turbo. Didn't want to port it to far so that I could still use the stock flapper, ported it about about 0.5mm on both ports. I also grinded down the end plate and flaper corner to allow it to open up about 1.5mm more.

Hopefully this will keep boost under control.

Pics can be found here.

Let me know what you guys think.

Plan on rebuilding the turbo myself, so any pointers.. please post them.

backcut the wastegate (flare the inside of the ports so that they widen and get larger to direct flow better rather than straight into the runner at a 90 degree angle), may want to port them a little larger also, i generally leave about a mm or so left on the seat for the door to seal.

also, i don't know about the S5 turbo but on the S4 trimming the backing plate doesn't allow the arm to open any more, the limitation is in the servo not the arm.

looks good so far though.

jhammons01: Presilencers are maganaflow, 2.25" piping, 22" long. Enjoy the power of the trueduals.

Karack: Yea I wanted to round it off in the inside of the port to make it smoother, but had a tough time getting that grinder bit to get in there at the right angle to smooth it out. Any suggestions? And there was only about .05mm or so left on the flap to seal. Only had about 1mm before I started grinding away.. didn't want to take to much off since I didn't want it to leak and cause slow spool up.

try finding a carbide grinding bit(burr for porting/grinding metals), you can usually find them at most hardware stores and a decent air die grinder will make short work of it.
