Ways to break Wind easier in a FC

I wonder what are the ways to improve the FC's wind breaking ability? No im not talking about farting. Im talking about cutting thru the air or aerodynamic. ( Since we all have forums on intakes , exhaust, turbos, engine mods why not for the body? )

Any suggestions ? aero package from s4 ? Lowering springs ? Flush underpans or trays ? I want to see what the 7club knows.

IIRC, the drag coefficient is relatively low to begin with

Louvers or porting on the low pressure area in the front of your hood?
I have read this can give you down force without added drag (ie wing) and has the added benefit of helping with cooling!

smear it with vaseline... It will slide right through that air.

The engineering terminology for the above is usually described as "lowering the drag coefficient". The drag coefficient is commonly abbreviated as "Cd".

Maybe you could use the ShineAutoProject subforum for that purpose?

Yes, the S4 aero package will lower the Cd from 0.31 to 0.29.

Yes, pretty much anything that works for cars in general will also work for an RX-7.

As silly as this may sound, keeping the car's exterior clean and waxed will also help.

Easy, sell your erebuni shogun bodykit and buy a tested aero kit from a legit company, such as cwest, re-amemiya etc.

^lol.

smaller side mirrors maybe? a front bumper that looks like a wedge and is 5' long?lol. but seriously, do you want less drag or more downforce? usually it is a trade off between the 2. if you got a t2 hood, get an na hood and put a fmic in. that would save a little drag.

S4 factory Aero kit is a thing of beauty indeed- developed with the car by Mazda in their new Miyoshi wind tunnel.

It Lowers the Cd (Coefficient of drag) from 0.31 to 0.29 while HALVING the Clr (coefficient of lift rear) from 0.14 to 0.07.

Leaving the car with a good 0.08 Clf and 0.07 Clr balance.

It does this with a deeper 3 piece front lip with extensions in front of the front wheel, extensions in front of the rear wheel, a flat alum pan under the oil pan and a low rear deck spoiler.

When they designed the 93 RX-7 they managed to get a 0.29 Cd, but 0.16 Clf and 0.08 Clr on the base model. To bring the front and rear lift into balance they added the Front lip spoiler to the R1/R2 models (and non functional rear wing) giving it a 0.10 Clf and 0.08 Clr but increasing Cd up to 0.31.

See how cool the S4 factory aero kit is? get this factory aero kit first.

Then lowering the car will always help, eliminate side mirrors (can put them inside like the high mpg-ers do). Reduce body panel gaps and frontal openings, get skinny wheels/tires just behind wheel openings with smooth hubcaps, etc (normal car tricks as Evil says).

The FC is actually very slick, maybe as slick as the FD with much better downforce as the FD has very little.

Class restrictions at Bonneville were limited to stock aero only when the FC did 238 mph with only 550 hp.

The stock FD flipped at a little over 215, leading to relaxing of some of the aero rules for doorslammers (stock bodies) since they needed some help safety wise when they started reaching 250 mph speeds.

Hard to improve drag numbers with any of the normal bodywork add ons. The small optional aero package sold by Mazda actually worked by adding a small rub strip to the front spoiler and the little kick ups on the rockers. Everything else just slows you down.

I remember reading about increasing the top speed by taping off the cracks where the hood meets the fenders/bumper, taping off rain rails and just other little stuff like that on the body that can be taped off.
