water temp gauge issues HELP! searched.
hey guys. i am trying to figure out what is the deal with this. my temp gauge sensor isnt plugged in and the gauge reads way beyond hot. i plug it in and the car wont start like the maf is unplugged.. starts revs to 3k then dies. obvious short or some cross from the na to turbo conversion. using turbo compy and engine harness, 86 gxl body harness...
i guess i just need to know which wire on the compy is the water temp wire so i can jsut run a new one. anyone have that info? and be as specific as you can cause wiring is the worst thing in the world for me

hmmm....strange. my car did the same thing just today. the temp gauge suddenly shot up way past hot for no reason. everything is plugged in right on my car too. i have no idea, but if i find out ill let you know.
Is this the water temperature gauge or the water thermosensor?? check the FSM manual and make sure you pulled the right one. The thermosensor goes to the ECU. if it's not working properly the car will not inject enough fuel on cold starts.
This is one of the things that many people overlook when doing an S4 TII conversion. Behind the passenger side kick panel is where the engine harness connects to the dash harness, for wipers, cruise, and gauges. The TII and N/A harnesses differ in this area, so you need to run some jumper wires. The temp gasue wire is yellow. Best thing to do is download the wiring diagrams.
