FD alt question

I did the search and fount the diagram for the hole set up swap. My question is the top wire from the FD plug thats supposed to be run to the battery can it be just run to were the nut goes on the black piece on the back of the alt because thats getting constant power also. Just trying to keep all the wiring as clean as possible.

you can get a new alt OEM for FD from rockauto for like $175
It is basically modding the terminal to fit and the pulley

They can be adapted to fit without too much problem.

For S4 guys (the above diagram is vauge for an S4)

B terminal - goes to B terminal on the S4 car.
L terminal - goes to "L" terminal on the S4 car.
S terminal - goes to battery (needs to be custom wired) with a 15amp fuse inline.

The R terminal gets cut and taped off.

S5 guys just need to hook B to B, L to L, and S to S.

My question is the top wire from the FD plug thats supposed to be run to the battery can it be just run to were the nut goes on the black piece on the back of the alt
It has to be connected to the battery. Believe it or not, the volts at the battery will be different from the volts at the alt. You will see about 14.5+ at the alt. You may only see 13.5-14.3v at the battery.

Another question, can't alts be retuned to output more amps?
I believe you can bring them some where to be moddified for more amps. A few people have done it, im just not sure what series alt they had it done to.

S terminal - goes to battery (needs to be custom wired) with a 15amp fuse inline.
Why a 15amp? Im going to test mine to see how many amps that one wire actually draws. You got my mind going now.

Beats me Its what I used....

Yes. They will re-wind the core with more copper to generate a higher amperage. The only restriction is the size of the actual casing because the bigger it is, the more windings they can fit.

Well both S and L don't pull any amps. Meter read 0.00amps. So I tested myself to make sure I hooked the meter up right and tested my lumber air pump and that pulled close to 3 amps.

So I would use only about .5 amp to keep any unwanted surges out of that wire in both directions.

BTW the L terminal doesn't go to the Volt Gauge. Im sure it only goes to the idiot light cluster. I will have to check the wiring diagram. If you run the alt without that wire, you still see volts at the gauge.
