water pump bad but not leaking-can that happen?

I have been fighting an overheating problem for a while now. I have gotten the car all back together and running well except the overheating. I have a koyo, I'm on my second factory thermostat, tried another just in case. I bought a new fan clutch, no go, and I just installed an E-fan which kept the temps better but not great. I saw temps up to 105C on the Haltech before with the new fan clutch (which was aftermarket and seems to be worse than my original) and on the EFAN it still got up to 99C. All ducting is on, the only thing I havent changed id the water pump. I bought it 2 years ago for my old motor and it worked fine, it was aftermarket. It sat for about six months during the build and I thought it would be OK to use on this motor. I have never got this thing to cool properly and am running out of ideas. Can a water pump not leak but pump too slow?

If the impeller is rusted out or damaged, yes. I took mine out because of the same issue and half of the impellers were rusted off. Changed it out and no moe problems except when is hits 95 in Florida with 100 percent humidity. Just have to run a little lower RPM and watch the temp gauge.

Why not verify this for yourself?
If the problem can be traced to the water pump, this implies you are not getting adequate circulation of the cooling system.
Remove the fan shroud (and possibly the stock viscous fan clutch itself) and let the engine warm up.
Carefully feel the radiator core to see if you're getting even heat over the face of the radiator core.

If not, you have a circulation problem.

Alright, so sometimes pumps can be failing without leaking, I have been told if they are not leaking they are OK. I would assume the propeller is not rusted off considering the age of the pump, so why else would it not pump efficiently enough considering its belt driven...

the oil system can cause overheating as well. in the case of my engine a bent eccentric shaft destroyed the thrust washers, sent metal shavings into my oil cooler and stopped all oil flow. this caused my car to overheat.

Yeah my motor had that problem, when it was originally ported they left shavings in the motor, had to tear it down again and have irons and housings cleaned, rebuilt the motor again, and I had the oil cooler flushed at a radiator shop. This motor is totally clean, my old oil looked like when the T1000 from T2 when he gets melted down it would glisten in the sun from all the shavings.
