Water jacket mod

I tried to find the thread, but it has slipped my search...

I came across a pic and explanation for those of you who were interested...

http://www.rotorsportsracing.com/new333.html

Read:&nbsp "Rotor Housing Modification"
The small pic on the bottom on the left/black column.

RotorSports helped me out w/ some parts on my engine. I built it myself, but needed new rear rotor and housing. Thats the only experience I've had w/ them and I was pleased.

i think that way you can use a regular socket on the plugs. Not sure but about 75%.

PERSONALLY , I got into a big beef with Bryan Smith, so I would never do any business it them.&nbsp Other than that, I've heard both good and bad, and Bryan does try his best to solve disputes on the big RX-7 list...

I'm always suspicious of businesses who post only good customer comments (what abou the bad ones??) on their web pages.

I just checked, and it's still there.
It's the last small pic in the left hand side within the black framed section.

Bryan did my rebuild, and I am satisfied with his work. He proved very cooperative while we worked out exactly what to do, and I believe he's more interested in long-term relationships than a quick buck.

There is nothing fancy about the water jacket mod.&nbsp The coolant passages closest to the spark plugs (hottest part of the rotor housing) are grooved so it disturbs flow and produces turbulence.&nbsp This turbulance actually helps with cooling efficiency.

You know, you can get all the benifits of the water jacket mod (and then some) by using Evans coolant.

And you don't have to disassemble/weaken your housings...

Ted, how effective is this? Is it really worth doing if the motor is already apart?

The other things I forgot to mention is the increase in surface area in the water passages for better heat transfer - duh.

I recommend this mod for all big power rotary engines, including ones that spin over 9kRPM.&nbsp You need to be very patient and consistent to get those grooves look really good!
