water injection help...

I can get a pump from work.

I has a break down of the PSI at what GPH tip it sprays through.

I cant find any numbers on what GPH tip i need to use, And how many PSI the pump needs to be.

This one is a 250psi at like .9 GPH and the psi goes down from there.

HELP!?!? I want to do the DIY water injection thing but if i can get a setup for 300 or less ill just buy one.

search for my thread in the 3rd gen section. I did the DIY kit, it will cost you about 145.00. All the info is there, for my 3rd gen I use 7 GPH nozzle with a 60 PSI pump.

Here are some details on the GPH, etc.

Ok, so the break down is like this:

In my Water Injection setup inwhich I have installed a 6.32 GPH nozzel. I need to find out my percentage of water to fuel at any given duty cycle. I want it to stay between 15-25 pct at all times, definately not go over 25 pct. I found that to convert CC/MIN to GPH I should take CC/MIN X .016 to get GPH. With that in mind I came up with the following.

Nozzel: 6.32 GPH

3500 CC 56 GPH
Duty Cycle CC GPH Ratio Duty Cycle CC GPH Ratio
0.49 1715 27.44 23.03% 0.66 2310 36.96 17.10%
0.52 1820 29.12 21.70% 0.67 2345 37.52 16.84%
0.54 1890 30.24 20.90% 0.68 2380 38.08 16.60%
0.55 1925 30.8 20.52% 0.69 2415 38.64 16.36%
0.56 1960 31.36 20.15% 0.7 2450 39.2 16.12%
0.57 1995 31.92 19.80% 0.71 2485 39.76 15.90%
0.58 2030 32.48 19.46% 0.72 2520 40.32 15.67%
0.59 2065 33.04 19.13% 0.73 2555 40.88 15.46%
0.6 2100 33.6 18.81% 0.74 2590 41.44 15.25%
0.61 2135 34.16 18.50% 0.75 2625 42 15.05%

wow you went math on it...

my pump is a 2.2gpm 60psi max pump..

i odered the tip from mcmaster 6.32gph@40psi

i am pulling parts right off the parst list on this site...

http://www.turbomirage.com/water.html

so far i have the pump, nozzle, water solenoid, inline filter, tank filter, and a loom of 4 in one wire.

im planning on doing a write up on how-to for a FC... lots of pics along the install process.

at what PSI should i activate.. im going to be running 10psi and creeping to 14psi with the stock IC... this is bad but until i get a FMIC water injection and a IC sprayer with temp switch is my only option.

Im thinking about 8psi or so.. just to be safe. Im not going to tune to the water.. but have it so i wont pop my new baby.

Mine comes on at 8 PSI, if you have water injection a FMIC is a waste of money. My intake temps today were 28-32C all day with normal driving. Thats with a tiny blitz smic..

EDIT: you have a turbo II, maybe a front mount is your only choice, not sure. the 6.32 gph is at 40, it runs about 7.2 at 60 psi.

why whould a fmic be my only choice on a tii? im want to know whay you said that...

I know nothing about the FC, I had a fB and FD. ON an FD we have the option of getting a SMIC upgrade. Thats a better choice IMHO, because it doesn't block your radiator, make you move your battery, less pressure drop and less lag. I dont know what options the TII has so im not going to judge.

Also, all the "Brass-tite" fittings are wrong, goto my thread in the 3rd gen section "Pics of my water injection setup". I listed the correct ones and part #'s from Home depot.

Also, the 3/8 hose will not work as well as the very small .17 Inch hose that you can get from Home depot (I know I tried both). the cost of the 3/8 fuel line is 1.20 a foot for 15 feet =about 18.00-20.00. The hose I use is a nylon hose that costs 1.20 (total price), its the same diameter that Aquamist uses, believe me its better.
