Wastegate questions

The way my wastegate mounts it angles the exhaust gasses toward where the oil pan meets the motor. It is about 3 inches away and I am afraid that when the wastegate opens the exhaust gasses will **** up something. Do I need to find another way to mount the wastegate so it fires strait down?

You put a discharge pipe on it, then you can point it anywhere you want. Or you join that pipe back into the main exhaust so your car doesn't sound like ***...

I thought about that, but I think it would be easy for me to just drill new holes and point it strait down. I have also herd that it can sound weird, not bad but weird with no piping on it. Now i really dont give a **** what it sounds like, I just want the best performance. Just how bad does it sound, and what does it sound like?

thanks

It sounds like a huge exhaust leak, because that's exactly what it is. Some like it, so try it and see. You can always pipe it into the exhaust later if you don't like it.

well this is all I am doing, the pipe ends about 3 inches from the dp, so if i dont like the sound i can just extend it, but I think i will leave it like this for now unless you guys can think of a reason to remove my uim, lim, exhaust mani, turbo,dp again.

If you plan to run in any organised events you'll need to meet the track's noise limits. You won't do that with an open wastegate. That's why race cars don't do this.
