Question Wastegate Porting or Oil Press.

Will a leaky turbo oil line(drain or feed) cause low oil pressure?

Do you think my WG is ported enough to prevent boost creep w/ full 3" exhaust?

Does no one browse the general rotary tech section?

Thanks!

Ok, How much further should I go... I also removed some material on the inside.

May cut some off the corner of the flapper for more clearance... and take the ports a little further...

Thanks

the amount of travel the wastegate actuator is capable of makes it fruitless to remove material from the flapper for more clearance.

If you have a caliper you can measure the size of the "circles" on the flapper, then port the passages as much as you can, while leaving a small area for the flapper to seal on. Remember that even if you port to the desired size, you will still have boost creep if you don't open up the inner passages as well.

Test it out w/ turbo assembled and compressed air.

You have to bend the wastegate flapper arm away from the turbo, grind the back WG flapper corner flat and then grind a depression in the turbo back plate.

Then you will have full travel.

I would port a little more out of each WG passage with care to the shapes as to direct air the direction you want and do the same on the WG entry in the turbo housing. Just do it up the most you can while the turbo is out of the car.

Ok, so I went a little further, and seems I'm almost to the limit w/ the flapper, I also did some back cutting in the passage I could reach.

Thanks!

You could port that wastegate bigger if you welded washers onto the flapper doors.
