washing oil pan
i need to wash out my oil pan,off the car, im going to use water but wanted to know if it was going to hurt my oil level sensor..

and note im not washing out oil i got some pentrant fluid in it and just want to make sure its all out before i put it back on

It's not going to hurt your sensor... just make sure to *dry* the pan before putting it back on...

Just remove the sensor it is three bolts. Use some RTV when you put it back. should be fine.
I just use liquid dish soap to wash it. Cuts the oil nicely.

mineral spirits may help as well. as long as the gaskets are in good shape when you reinstall it, washing it will do nothing but good things.
