Question warning light cluster

my warning lights work correctly, at least all the important ones do (oil, coolant, hatch, battery) but the others (doors, clock, and wiper fluid) dont. do i need the replace the whole cluster or just rewire it? does anyone have an electrical scematic for it if it is that simple?

thanks
justin

Probably either burnt out bulbs or cold solder joints on the panel.

Resolder all the connections to the circuit board where the car's plug plugs onto it.

sometimes all of them do light up, but then sometimes all of them dont, ive had the car for more than a year and ive seen the door one light up once when the doors were open.

If you just turn the Key to the ON position (but not start)every light should light in the idiot/clock panel. The only exception to this would be the 'verts in which the top and bottom far left lights are not wired in.

If all the lights don't come on, (no lights on) then you either have cold solder joints or burnt bulbs in the panel and/or the CPU is bad and needs repairing.

If just a couple lights, turn on with the Key in the On (but not started) position, the the CPU is probably fine, and the problem is more related to bad solder joints in the Clock/idiot light panel (or bad bulbs again).

BTW, its real easy to tell if the panel came from an 86 or 87 or 88 up. The 86 FC came with an orange/red clock and angled up, the 87 came with a white/blue clock and angled up, and the 88-up had the blacked out lights and a white/blue clock and angled down.

welp it came out of a 88-up then cos the lights work only when the specific light it triggered and it a white/blue clock angled down!! i just switched the clear plastic piece with mine so it angles up!! this 88 is in nice shape w/ many great parts(still has the motor in it too,but cant open hood due too damage)glad i found this one!! my parts car in local junk yard nice!! hehe!! :p

No they all work the same, they all should have every light come on when the key is turned to the on position.

This is a diagnostic feature. If all the lights are not coming on when the key is on (but the engine is not started or running) then there is a problem with either the CPU (which sounds like possible your case) or there is a problem with the idiot light panel.

I don't know how to be more clear on this. They all should be coming on whne you just turn the key on. It is how all FC's work. If it is not, then there is a problem in the car (even if every sensor and wire tests out fine in the panel).

i took it out and wiggles the wires and my clock works now.... but the lights dont light up when the key is set to on... alot like his, i have gotten the hand brake and hatch lights to trigger... but there is no gas in the car and no light for that.... no other lights come on...

i opened it and looked at the bulbs they all look good (not burnt anyway) and i cleaned the wireing harness plug tabs... didnt do anything .. still no lights at on possition..

may be related... my gauges should reset to 0 when the key is set to on right?... the boost gauge was doing that just fine but now it dosent.
the speedo needle jumps just a little bit when i turn the key to on... so its getting power.

i havent got the car running yet cuz the starter just clicks.. im kinda scared at this point to play with it more without my warning lights and gauges comming on.

horn and power windows also dont work.. is all of this related or controlled by the cpu?

cold solder joints? i keep reading about this... where is and what is that.. i can solder and will fix it/this if i knew where to look...

im lost and worried.

it did come out of a 89 RX7, i was at my fav junkyard today getting extras off that car!! so i dont know what to tell y'all all my lights work but dont come on with just the key on!! hmmmm mystery!! PEACE!!
