sure that your alternator is working correctly???

What does your voltmeter read when this is happening???

And please only start one thread on a subject. Your multiple threads have been merged.

I didn't ask if it was okay, I asked what it was reading.

Is it above 12.6 volts??? at all times??? Like when the idiot lights are coming on???

It needs to be above 13.5 at all times, but if it drops under 12.6 the warning lights will all light up, indicating alt failure.

well idle at 1500 is pretty high unless the motor was just started cold. Idle warm should be at 650-700 RPM half of what you posted.

And

Yes if the alternator is is not putting out enough voltage to even hit 12.6 volts (just slightly- a hair above the 12 volt line on a FC non turbo voltmeter), then either the alt is bad or has a wiring issue.

And

I only log in here once or twice a day, and I look at all the new posts since I last logged in... so posting a bunch of times won't get an answer any quicker

cool, i will do that, i was checking my car while driving it. and the voltmeter was like at about 13, and when i tap on the gas it drop for a few seconds, also when i'm listening to music. i there a bigger alternator, that will fit the fc? and if it is a wiring issue what will be the solution or the cause of the problem?

No. I think you need to learn some of the basics.

Look the alternator has three wires, two of them are part of the charging circuit for the alt. If they are hooked onto the alt and not loose they are fine. One is the large wire on the bolt, the other is in the plug that is plugged into the alt (along with the reference/run wire).

But from your description your alt is failing. Again the voltage should never be under 12.6 volts and normally around 14.4 volts (just above the marker in the gauge that sits between the 12 and 16 markers). If it is not there, and your belts are tight, and the connections to the main fuse in the underhood fuse box are tight (it is held in/ tighetned by 10mm nuts) then you have a bad alternator.

Your alt may be also bad from your stereo system as you mention you have one. Do you have some high power amp and subwoofer set up???

And there are no plug and play replacement high power alts, however the S5 alt will bolt in and with only minor wiring changes will work fine on a S4 car. You can also use a alt from a FD, but there are minor differnences and you would need to replace the pulley or get a FD alt that has been modified for use in a FC.
