Question Want to install my sub again, but.....

Hello,

I want to install my eclipse 15" that i had in my Si, but i'm a little hesitant, because of my back window. It isn't tinted, and i don't want anybody breaking in to steal my amp and sub. I was wondering if i could buy a cover for the back, like the one shown on this car that is for sale on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...851159&r=0&t=0

What is it called??? And one more thing, will i need to get a cap for the system??? How can i be sure that my electrical system is working properly enough to handle the power??

Thanks,

i'm not sure if you can buy one new. if you're lucky you might be able to find someone on here selling one or find one at the wreckers. other then that, the only alternative is to make one yourself.

That's just the cargo cover or hatch cover. Whatever you prefer to call it. I don't think that you can get them new. Sometimes they are on eBay. Your best bet may be to search the junkyards or find somebody with a parts car that has one. I imagine even if you can get it from the dealer (which I doubt you can) it would be super expensive.

Capacitors never hurt your system. Just remember that the weakest link in your electrical setup for your stereo often controls the overall potential of your system. Make sure to have large enough power and ground cables, this is important. A capacitor is always a good idea if you are going to be running a big subwoofer. I was talking with a local shop here in Sacramento today and the owner told me that the Phoenix Gold representative told him of some new testing that PG has been doing on capacitors in car stereo systems. What they discovered is that unless the capacitors are within 6 to 10 inches of the amplifiers power input, then they are pretty much worthless. Capacitors work by dumping a large amount of energy into the amp when the bass hits hard. If the cable between the capacitor and the amp is too long, then the current doesn't flow to the amp fast enough and hence the capacitor is worthless. I just thought you might like to know that new technical tidbit. Im going to move my caps so that they are within 6 inches of my sub amp. Good luck with your install and make sure to hide what you have so it stays yours!!!

I find that you get the best sound if you face it towards the rear so it needs to be out in the open ... i would say just get some very dark tint .. thats what i did. I have limo 5% tint just on the hatch window and 15% on the sides and its near impossible to see whats there.

Thanks for all the help guys, but I'm still a little scared about the tints. Pretty sad that people gotta worry about their **** being jacked all the time.

Speaking from someone that had their box in the hatch, no tint, no cover in my '83. I covered mine with a piece of **** sheet. It was UGLY! Looked like a ******* cardboard box. NEVER play your stereo loud where you park it. Oh ya, and don't leave your windows cracked at all...
