want to go turbo

I HAVE A 88 RX7 GTU I WANT TO GO TURBO AND I HAVE HEARD SOME DIFFERENT WAYS OF DOING THIS. FIRST I HAVE BEEN TOLD YOU CAN MAKE A 6 PORT TURBO BUT IT'S DIFFICULT PROCESS AND NOT VERY POPULAR. THEN I TALKED TO A LOCAL RX7 MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME TO GET A Tll MOTOR AND THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE TO CHANGE THE CPU, WIRING HARNESS, OR TRANSMISSION BECAUSE THE GTU HAD THE SAME FACTORY PARTS AS THE Tll WITHOUT THE TURBO, AND ALSO DOES THIS INCLUDE THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL INJECTORS .IS THIS INFACT TRUE AND DOES IT MATTER IF THE Tll MOTOR COMES OUT OF 87-88 OR 89-91, AND WHAT IF ANY TYPES OF PROBLEMS AM I LOOKING AT RUNNING INTO HERE. AND HOW MUCH MONEY SHOULD I EXPECT TO SPEND ON THIS TRANSFORMATION, THANKS TO ALL WHO REPLAY, BECAUSE THE IFNO IS BADLY NEEDED.

you will need the t2 wiring harness, cpu, transmission etc to make it EASY. but there is short cuts around this. go back a couple of pages in this section and there is like tons of posts on this!

if you have a 88' then stick with the 87'-88 turbo motors, or you will need the latter harness if you go 89+ how much money about 1-2k guessing.

It depends on some year and models since I have heard of many conflicting parts coming from a GTU.

But, the transmission, fuel system, suspension, and wiring is different (among others). I believe the Non-turbo had 440 or 450 injectors instead of the 550 injectors. The transmission is also stronger for the turbo. Maybe the differential is different. I believe that the GTUs is the only car that is the same as the turbo (other than the turbo).

In terms of cost, I think it will be cheaper to just find a good TII and buy it. It will give you the same performance as your plan, plus you now have much more upgrade potential. Good luck and let us know your route.
