want to buy an fc, but...

ok so this guy i work with got an 86 base fc. he was told it needed a battery and transmission. he cant get it to start. it's not even turning the motor. he bypassed the clutch engaugement switch, has tried a new starter (not reman), and has a brand new battery. still it just spins. sounds like it's not contacting the flywheel. he's fed up and is offering to sell it to me for 300 bucks! i want to buy it regardless. the body is immaculent and interior is great!!!! what can i look for though to get this thing to crank?

So it spins but does not seem to try to start? Maybe the engine is flooded. Have you pulled the spark plugs?

no no no, the starter whines but nothing moves. it's as if the starter isnt even touching the flywheel. is this possible? it's a brand new starter too. he may have not lined it up. i get to get a good look over again tonight. just. i dont think it' siezed up because it drove fine before. it's just sat a while. the motor turns by hand very easily.

It's possible if the starter isn't lined up or if the flywheel teeth are stripped.

wow, i am 100% positive you are talking about Marc's FC, and I haven't even seen the car, but I was seriously thinking about accepting his offer to trade it and cash for my stealth
