walbro question

This might sound dumb but i don't know the answer. What can the consequences be of running walbros outside the tank? Now I know they are intank, but what can happen mounting them outside?

They die faster.
Fuel sloshing around them keeps them cooler.

This is just a guess, but I suspect because they are designed for in-tank operation, they may not be completely sealed around electrical connectors. Could be wrong though.

There are better choices for external pumps anyway from BG, Mallory, Aeromotive, etc.

areation may kill them faster as well.

mounting an in tank pump outside of the tank it will run dry for a short period of time before it draws up fuel to pump which wears out seals and bearings faster since the pump is being overspun. as well the pump is not designed to run dry at any given time and it may have difficulty even priming itself so premature failure can come quite a bit early.
