On my series 4 car, there should be 4 wires going to the fuel pump. They are a different color at the plug by the shock tower, but the leads going to the fuel pump are red, blue, black/white, and black. The black/white wire (blue on the rear harness side of the connector) goes supplies juice to the pump. So trace your wires through and hook the positive to the terminal that connects to the black/white wire.

To verify this: jumper the fuel pump check connector, a yellow two terminal connector on the passengar side shock tower. Then check voltage on the wires. IIRC the black/white wire should have no voltage without the check connector jumpered, and then when you jumper it it should be at least 10-11 volts (if nonturbo s4) and I possibly lower than that if you have a turbo with a resistor pack. the blue and red wires going to the pump are for the fuel gauge and low fuel light. Again, they are a different color at the harness connector by the shock tower. the blue wire on the harness side connects to the black/white wire which supplies 12V.

s5 i'm not so sure about.

The ground is the wire that goes to the screw on the bracket.
The power is the one that comes straight down from the cover.

The Walbro should have labels on the terminals.

He just told you which was + and negative. The ground lead (negative in this circuit) connects from the pump to the bracket. The positive lead connects to a passthrough that goes through the flange and leads into the wire harness.
