Walbro 255 rebranded as Airtex = FALSE

I caught a rumor about Walbro 255's being rebranded as Airtex part # E2448. I took the time to hunt one down and was initially excited because the pump does read Walbro on the side. However it is not a 255. Part # on the rebadged pump is F10000134.

After doing some digging I found the pump here: Auto Performance Engineering - Walbro fuel pumps and more

That site lists it for sale as a 42 gal/hr pump at 40 psi. which according to my conversions is 159 lph.

Just posting this up as an FYI. Don't pop this pump into your car and lean out your engine thinking it's something it's not.

Unless they are putting different part# fuel pumps in the same Airtex boxes then I'm pretty sure. What part # was on the pump you had in your box, or boxes?

If you look at the part number on the side of the Airtex/Walbro pump it matches with the fuel pump being sold on the website I linked to. That website gives the specs for the pump. That same site shows pictures of the different Walbro 255s and the F1000134 does not look like the 255s they pictured. The one in my box had a tan colored end that didn't match any of the pictured pumps on the site selling them.

I sent an email to Walbro asking for the specs on the pump I had. It's been 3 days now and I haven't gotten a response. I doubt I'll get one at this point.

If you get a response lmk. I bought that pump and I've had other friends buy them for their cars too. It's the same part number on the pump that you posted up but when I googled it, 255 pops up

I found a couple things on car forums with people talking about the pumps as if they are 255s, but nothing from a vendor selling them as 255s. People post well intentioned but false information all the time in forums. I trust someone selling the part who also gives specs a lot more than a forum.

Also to note, the link I posted is selling the same pump for $80 which is right around what I paid ($70).

Auto Performance Engineering - Walbro fuel pumps specs

reading up on other forum post found this quote more than once.

"Just called up Walbro and talked to one of the fuel pump guys. He explained that it is indeed a made-in-USA Walbro 255 in an Airtex box. He did say that Airtex does manufacture their own pumps too, but the E2448 is sold directly to them."

Then there is conflicting information. If you look at my link which I'll post again from the same etailer they are selling the same pump I had as a 42gph pump which converts to 159lph.

I dealt with this like 3 weeks ago, went to advance auto and purchased the Airtex pump, got home and found it wasn't stamped walboro but that F10000134 model, didn't even come with the power pigtail for it. Called another advance auto and they said they had the pig tail in their box. On the way to that store I stopped at another store to see and they had the F10000134 pump as well. So upon arrival at the store I called they pulled out the box and it looked older than what the other two stores had. Inside was a pump stamped walboro on it, and looked completely different than the ones I looked at for the other two stores. So they are still out there, just are being replaced with another newer version that isn't walboro

The one I got had Walbro stamped on it as well as the same model #, but that model number is being sold by the website I've posted a few times with flow specs much less than a 255.

I would not trust this with my engine. I'd rather spend an extra $60 or so and know I have the correct part.
