Vvvvvibration problem :D

After my tranny swap and 3 weeks of driving, I can not drive my car above 45mph without horrid shaking!

I put the car up today and tightened everything I could reach and it was great.... for about 4 miles....

I have to drop the exhaust, driveshaft, and tranny again to replace the throughout bearing and piolt bearing anyways, but until then, this is driving me crazy!

Just need to re tighten everything.....
Any torques I should use on the engine/tranny connection or driveshaft???

i had a simlar problem after removing my tranny, it turns out it was the tranny mount and how i installed it, mine was shot so i got a new one, 80 bucks later (2 tranny mounts + 1 crossmember) I installed it and still had the same problem.

recently i check it out and took it off and reinstalled it....when i reinstalled it i tighten down the crossmember nut before i put the bolts in through the cross member to the body i had to do a bit of coaxing with a crow bar to get the bolts to line up with the wholes but once i did it solved my problem...

dunno if that helps

I have a 86 tranny in my 88, so I modifyed the 88 mount to work. (The 86 tranny has wider bolt holes, so I redrilled the mount and ground the tranny connection side down for it to fit. Works great)

I will check the mount, I know the rubber on the crossmember mount is shot.
But Im pretty sure its the lack of locking washers on the driveshaft.
Ill consider anything however .

well those 2 things alone would cause some kinda vibration...and you can't replace the rubber on the cross member you need to get a new one.

Most people are suprised on how much mounts make a differnce.

I thought road vibration was culprit to a nasty vibration i delt with for 16 months. During the recent 5spd swap, I replaced all the driveshaft and halfshaft bolts with new replacements (was missing one nut). Bam... all vibrations gone. Was amazing not to have plastic panels vibrating noisely all over...

yep, just that little pressed-in mount on the tranny cross member (saddle mount) being shot will cause quite a bit of vibration...been there, done that...Mazdatrix has 'em, also...
