Very Smoky after rebuild

How long should my car smoke for after a rebuild? i am blowing lots of white smoke out the exhaust and i don't think it should smoke that much right after a rebuild. i know it is supposed to smoke but what is considered excessive? it is making me think a coolant seal is bad in my turbo. it smoke all 40 miles i drove it.

It could be all the assembly lube used in the rebuild. I know anti-seize likes to smoke like a bitch for a while. Who did your rebuild?

Mine smoked for about 30 minutes or longer. I figured that was the assembly lube plus fluid that built up in the turbo. But it burned off and now it's clean, and i am running without a cat.

should smoke for about 30 min + sometimes even more. Just give it a bit to seal. if it doesnt seal after 5 miles running...then you have a problem. ^_^

After 40 miles it should have stopped smoking. A lot of smoke on start CAN be normal because all the assy lube gets thrown in the exhaust manifold. It takes a bit for all that lube to get burned off because the manifold takes time to get up to the temps to burn it.

Nope, 40 miles and it should NOT look like your picture above.

I've slobbered too much lube/oil during a rebuild and upon starting you couldn't see the house across the street. Took a bit of driving to burn it off. Maybe thirty minutes or a bit less.

well think it might be a bad coolant seal or oil seal might be bad in the turbo then so i might have to rebuild the turbo and port the stock wastegate then. i was see a little oil residue in the intercooler piping. think a bad oil seal would do that.
