well i didnt do the boiling water trick but i let my engine warm all the way up to 180 and it didnt change, i have it idling at 1600 rpm with the tps. if i give it some throttle it revs up but bounces up and down. just wondering its an s5 intake on an s5 engine but is the s4 throttle body part any different from the s5? if not i have an s4 throttle body that i never had problems with that i could put on.

The job of the Thermowax is to lower the idle and if the piston is not extending correctly then the idle will not drop by itself. Your problem "might" be caused by a different issue but if you don't systematically go through the possibilities then you'll go around in circles. Read through the following link as it will explain how the Thermowax needs to be set up properly. Read it, learn it, live it.

i found the screw cant see the gap part, the bottom plate in the intake seems to be opened a bit more that my s4 one so im guessing that can be adjusted with the screw? and to adjust the screw i need to remove the throttle body right?

That screw adjusts the rpm of the Fast Idle warm up and not the rpm of the idle when the Fast Idle Cam rolls off the roll pin. In other words when the Fast Idle occurs on a cold start it is about 1500 rpm and the screw you are looking at adjusts it either higher or lower to a certain extent. You would be better off adjusting the throttle stop screw in that pic but you would better off than that to adjust the upside down screw on the other end of the throttle body which can be adjusted by hand w/o having to remove the throttle body. The upside down screw would need to be tightened in your case and if that doesn't help then you can adjust it back to the previous position. You really need to check to see if the Fast Idle Cam rolls off properly when the car is fully warmed up though as that should be a priority. If it isn't then you are just trying to apply a bandaid approach to the problem.

by the fast idle cam you mean the piece that touches the thermowax? i warmed the car all the way up tonight and observed that the thermowax grew a good bit in size.
