very high idle!
very high idle!
i just converted my car to a 5 speed and used a racing beat aluminum flywheel. now i know the idle will be higher do to less spinning mass. but i turned my idle adjust screw all the way down and it runs at over 4000 rpm. before the conversion the idle was a little high, just over 1000 rpm. maby bad timing? or ? give me your input. thanks.
Is your idle rough or smooth when it's high? If it's rough, I'd look more towards a vacuum leak. Also make sure the idle adjust screw is actually touching the throttle lever. If it's not, it might be because the thermowax is still engaged. Pinch the hose shut from the BAC to the air intake duct. If it returns to normal idle, suspect a stuck BAC. I use a propane bottle that I have rigged up with a long vacuum hose to detect vacuum leaks. Wherever you aim the propane gas with the hose that causes a change in how the engine runs, is where you have a vac leak.
ya it seems to run steady at about 4k. thoue last time i tryed it hesitated at round 2.5k then reved to 4k. all do a once over on the vac lines to make shure i did not break or pull any loose when i was working on it. the bac line is the one going to the botom of the intake pipe? right. thanks for the help. i didnot even think about vac leaks
the throttle body is closed all the way. i checked that : ) i did a half *** vissual inspection of the vacume lines and all apeared to be in place but i may have a cracked one some where. all do a closer inspection later. im bussy making a trans mount today : ) thanks for the sugestion though.
