vert water leaking in when it rains

ok yes i searched, my 89 vert likes to make a pool in the pass floor board when it rains. I dont knowtis a leak when the cars moving but if it rains and the car is parked it floods the right floor. it will be in the fan housing area and shoot out when the fan turns on. All the posts i did find seem to be about hard tops and they toss out the sunroof drain lines alot well this is a vert so no s.r. lines to leak A friends integra does this also so im researching that car also.

There should be a drain in the cowl to keep that from happening.

I would imagine said drain is clogged up.

The "cowl" area should be exactly the same on a vert or on a coupe. I don't think it's likely that is leaking on a 7. I had that problem on my 66 Mustang :P

Is there a possibility it could be coming from the door area? Mine used to leak from the seal from the vert "targa" to the front of the door window. I sliced a small hole in the trim and crammed a wooden dowel into it to fatten it up and it stopped leaking on mine.

Get a wire coat hanger and clear out all you drains. Always a good practice. One in the cowl, and one on the driver side and then one on the passenger side, both are right behind the doors.

Yeah, but he is saying it is shooting out of his blower motor, if I read his post correctly.

If I am read thing that wrong, then I would say to check the drain and stip on the targa as well. The seal on the targa tends to shrink and instead of the water dripping into the drain, it drips down the side of the drain onto the seat/floor.

I fixed that by adding a few mils thick of black RTV to the edge of the weather strip where it meets the strip on the door a pillar (I guess that's what you'd call it). Problem solved and it now drips into the drain again.

yes your reading it right. the leak is from the front above your feet. When you say the drain strip on the targa. are you saying the rubber on the sides... window mates to it? or the front that mates to the windshield area? the side rubber on my targa has no drain strip its a solid piece.

I mean the rubber on the targa section that the window rolls up into. Where that strip meats the windshield frame, it always leaks, naturally, so there is a little drain built into the weather stripping in the door. Look where that strip meets and you'll see that the door weather stripping has a little bowl built into it at the top, and that is where the targa top strip is supposed to drip into. When the seal strinks, it tends to drip down the side of that bowl instead of into it.

I'll snap a picture of it later.

I would love to see that picture as well, my seals on both sides are torn slightly and I want to see how they are supposed to look.

I repaired mine to the way they are supposed to work with RTV, so it won't be exact, but damn near as close as possible without an entire replacement. I am still drinking coffee...let me get some more down and I'll snag some shots for you guys.

Heres a pic of my driver side seal and the passenger side seal of my car. I have repaired the driver side with Black RTV and have neglected my passenger side seal. Its a good example of how it should and should not look.

You MUST have the little lip on the seal for the drain to operate correctly. If I where to make an hypothesis on your issue, the drain is not functioning properly, and you have water rolling down the A pillar and draining in the floor board. I had the same issue on my driver side, and this fixed it.
